Natcher serves students in preschool through sixth grade. We are fortunate to have a very diverse student population with over 28 countries represented and 19 languages spoken including American Sign Language; as Natcher is the school district's center for children with hearing impairments.
Natcher is known for having students who excel academically, outstanding parent participation and a caring, highly qualified and dedicated staff. A variety of special programs support English language learners, gifted, and all students who require special assistance. Staff development informs instructional practices and shapes continuous school improvement efforts for all populations.
The School Based Decision Making Council and Parent-Teacher Organization share leadership in policy-making and school support. Faculty and Elementary Education students from Western Kentucky University collaborate with our teachers to offer many extra opportunities for our students.
Technology is integrated and applied by all students and faculty. We are a 1:1 school where all students have a chromebook checked out to them for use throughout the school year. These are collected at the end of each school year and redistributed at the beginning of the year. For more information on our 1:1 Policy, click here. Each classroom is also equipped with a Smart TV and the ability to cast learning materials to the screen to help our learners in multiple ways. The library media center houses over 14,000 circulated items and nationally known children's authors and illustrators visit our school every year. It also houses our makerspace and STEM materials to provide students with the ability to provide students with the opportunity to think, create, share and grow in order to develop 21st century thinking skills while also promoting inquiry, problem solving and life-long learning.
Natcher provides a clean, orderly learning environment characterized by mutual respect and high standards. Our school is utilizing the Leader in Me program using Steven Covey's, 7 Habits for Highly Effective People, to encourage leadership skills in every student. We are striving hard to educate tomorrow's leaders.
